Positive test for West Nile virus found in mosquito sample near Grapevine Lake

The city will spray the area tonight and test again Thursday.

A mosquito sample taken from Meadowmere Park at Grapevine Lake has tested positive for West Nile virus, the city announced.

A mosquito control crew will spray within a half-mile radius of the 3000 block of Meadowmere Drive tonight.

Dewey Stoffels, Grapevine’s environmental manager, said the city began its annual testing in April, near the start of mosquito season in Texas. He said this is the first mosquito sample taken in Grapevine that has tested positive since 2018.
